Carol’s mina jumpsuit!
Jumping Edelweiss!!
Hey there, I hope you’re enjoying some sunshine wherever you are?

Here in the UK the wet spring has finally given way to a lovely burst of warm and sunny weather, it’s been long awaited, and my new make is just perfect for spending time outside enjoying the early summer weather!!

When I first saw the Forest green shade of this lovely fabric, I was totally smitten. But then as quickly as it came into stock, it sold out as fast!! I was totally gutted, but then it came back and what blew me away was that it was in two shades, the original Forest and also this delightful “Sky” blue!!

The viscose fabric is a lovely quality cool and soft gorgeously drapey and laundered like a dream. I have used some viscose fabrics before which have “clicked” if you know what I mean? They catch and you get a run of white thread through the fabric, I can assure you that this had no such problem. I did use a nice fine sewing machine needle and a new rotary cutter blade for cutting it out and I would recommend that for every make. I do save my old blades by the way for cutting paper patterns out, as I would no sooner use my fabric scissors for cutting a pattern than use a good rotary cutter blade for paper cutting!!

I knew I wanted to make a jumpsuit, but as I’ve already made the Papercut Zadie jumpsuit twice, I thought I’d try something a little different. I found this jumpsuit pattern on the Makerist website and thought it was similar to the Zadie but had the nice alternative of a “proper” sleeve, whereas the Zadie has a grown-on sleeve. So, I plumped for the Mina. The Clematisse pattern company is French, and I really love the styling, but I’m afraid the pattern instructions were awful. It seemed as though the instructions had been translated from the French really badly. As an experienced maker I managed by following the images and by using my knowledge, but in the future, I will make the Zadie as this is nowhere like as nice a pattern.

I do absolutely love my new jumpsuit now it’s finished and the dreamy viscose, is just perfect. But I’m afraid the Mina won’t be a TNT pattern for me!
Had I not made a jumpsuit I would have loved to have made a gorgeous dress in it, maybe the Nina Lee Kew dress with a lovely swishy skirt or a Wilder gown by Friday Pattern Company. It would also make a really pretty top, I think a pussy bow blouse would be perfect or a Closet Core Ceilo!?

What will you make??
Any way I’m off out into the sunshine so until next time keep chatting and stitching, Carol x
