Sally’s Spring dress!

Hi all, Hope you’re all keeping well.

I’m back on the Felicity Fabrics Blog today to show you my Spring dress by Nina lee patterns which isn’t just for spring, it’s a year round dress!

This pattern was a freebie in the March 2021 Issue of SimplySewing magazine and as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to make one of my own. But it is available as a PDF available on Etsy

When Caroline and Fliss showed us samples of new fabrics to the Bogger Team that was coming to the shop soon, the Denim Panther print on Double Gauze just drew me straight to it for this dress.

It’s so soft and the print is fantastic. As always my package of goodies arrived so nicely.

With Nina’s patterns in the past I had to make a narrow shoulder adjustment by 1inch, which I did for this one and shortened the skirt length by 3” but in hindsight I could have gotten away with not shortening it. For reference I made the size 16. Of course i had to have a brew and snack to get me through the pattern adjustments.

With gathering the skirt too, I always go to dental floss as it is so much easier to gather than two rows of stitching with thread.

The only fiddly bit I found with this pattern was making your own bias binding and attaching it to the dress to make the ties but other than that it was a breeze to make. I always like to add a garment label and this one that was gifted from rebekah aka sewno65 was very apt for this make as the binding took a few attempts to get right.

So here is my finished All year round dress which i wore round to my parents house where my auntie, uncle and paddy the dog came up from norfolk after not seeing them for 18 months due to covid. It was nice to see them and be with my family in the sunshine too.

Happy Sewing!

Sal xx
