Guest blogger – olga!

I was so excited and happy to be chosen to be the Felicity Fabrics guest blogger in 2021!
My excitement to receive the fabric that I chose for my project was multiplied by 2 because it took more time to receive it due to the global situation but also because of changes in customs procedures between our countries. Add the lovely packaging style of Felicity Fabrics and Christmas mood was on when I received it!

I made the view D of the Simplicity pattern 8832 and I think it is a great combination of pattern and fabric. I will definitely make this pattern again in viscose, for hot summer days.

All shades of pink is my number one choice when I sew for myself. I saw many makes of this lovely viscose fabric in other colours in the same print and my choice was obvious. This fabric is just so me. It drapes beautifully and is soft to the touch – I thought it would be just perfect for a maxi dress.

I followed the pattern and made the bodice lined with a plain viscose fabric of the same colour from my stash. The skirt has only one pattern for back and front pieces and in general the dress came together easily. I used French seams on the skirt just because I love the finished look.

I loved the pattern – gathered elastic waist and wrap bodice, no need to be on a diet 🙂 I secured the bodice front pieces with a tiny hand stitch just to be sure everything stays in place when I move and wear a tote bag on a shoulder.

The fabric is a dream to work with. After dealing with satin and crepe fabrics every day working with viscose especially when pressing the seams on is just a relaxing time for me.

Thank you so much Felicity Fabrics for this pretty fabric and for your patience with my parcel!

Thank you all for reading my post and Happy New Year!
