Rosy’s Pearl cardigan!

What can I say about this cardigan, except that I LOVE it!?!? Its the Pearl cardigan from Tilly and the buttons. I’ll talk more about the pattern in a moment, but first let me tell you about this lush fabric!

It’s the toffee stripe french terry. The thick stripes are a gorgeous rich caramel colour and the small stripe is a delicate shade of apricot. The combination of the two is just so striking and a really different addition to my wardrobe. When I was looking for clothes to pair with the cardigan, I realised how many garments I have in my wardrobe that subtly contain one or other of the colours.

The weight of the fabric is also just right. Medium weight means it makes a cosy cardigan but its still stretchy and comfy…perfect for spring layering!

The Pearl cardigan pattern caught my eye as soon as it was released in January. I didn’t see many plus size versions around, so I wasn’t 100% sure how it would look on me, but I still really wanted to give it a go. I’m so glad I took the plunge! I really love the style and shape.  Although it’s not designed to be a vintage style garment, it fits in really well with my eclectic mix of vintage and modern styles.

My bust measurement is 49″ and I made a size 10. It’s a great fit for me.

The one thing I would change next time is to lengthen the body by 1″. Its meant to be a cropped cardigan, but I am long in the body, so I could do with just a smidge more length. The photos I’ve included here show it worn with some black trousers, and it’s just a tiny bit short. But, as I’ve worn it with a black top underneath, it doesn’t matter.  I’m looking forward to wearing it with my high-waisted jeans too…I think it will be a great combination.
