Finding the right floral fabric is a constant battle for me, but with the viscose Florence from Felicity Fabrics, I hit jackpot! The small delicate flowers on the ivory background gave me western country girl vibes, a look Gucci nails over and over, and I knew I wanted to create something similar. The fabulous thing about this fabric is it is very hard to find a pattern that wouldn’t work well with it, which was a huge hurdle at first – decisions, decisions decisions. A gathered midi skirt would have been ideal, paired with a baggy white t-shirt and some brown suede pointed boots. A buttoned down midi V neck dress was another option, worn with my old but much loved converse. The possibilities really were endless. In the end though, I decided to go for Fibre Mood’s Paulette blouse. It met all my western country girl dreams and I couldn’t be happier in it.

The construction of the pattern was challenging but manageable for a confident beginner. I always love the layered printing option from Fibre Mood’s patterns, so cutting out can be so much easier and can save on ink and paper. The sizing is true to size, if perhaps on the slimmer size of the measurements, but they are a trusty designer to have in your stash, hence my lack of toile.

Okay Okay, lets get onto the fabric. The texture is so soft, I washed this pre cutting, wore the top out, washed again and still the fabric is so soft. It isn’t completely opaque, but I quite like that, sometimes I find super opaque fabrics can feel slightly flat and less luxurious. As you can see from the photographs, the viscose is delicate, drapey, but isn’t revealing. The pop of blue really works well on the ivory and repeated enough to be visible on any pattern piece you cut.

If this beautiful fabric has been on your wish list, this is your sign to purchase and have zero regrets – Yeehawww! ( too far?)
