Rosy’s Sabina Skirt!
I had such fun with this project! I absolutely LOVE broderie anglais, but I’m a messy person and if I wear white clothes, I’m just bound to spill stuff down me! So, I decided to dye some of this gorgeous fabric a colour that is more practical for my lifestyle!
I was a bit nervous to dye the fabric, as I’d never done it before, but I needn’t have been scared because it was very easy! I popped into my local store of Wilkinsons and picked up a tub of Dylon for use in the washing machine. (I could have chosen powder to use in a bucket, but I had heard the washing machine method was more reliable for streak free finish) I followed the directions on the package and Hey Presto! the colour turned out perfectly!

I knew I wanted to make a Sabina Skirt by The Little Pomegranate, as its a lovely shape and perfect for wafting about on a hot summer day. I wanted to use the scalloped edge of the fabric on the frill, so I cut my frill first to ensure I had enough of the scalloped edge left. Once I’d made the skirt, I had JUST enough fabric to squeeze out a tiny top to go with it! I was even able to get the scalloped edge on the hem of the top too! So now I can wear the top tucked in or untucked, depending on my mood!

I managed to make all of this out of 3m of fabric, which is impressive for a plus size girl like me! So, it makes for an economical outfit!

I hope you like my blue broderie anglais outfit! And I also hope I might have inspired you to have a go at dyeing some fabric too! It’s a great way to create something totally unique!
