Guest Blogger – Linda
Hello my name is Linda. I love to sew and was thrilled to be chosen to be the October guest blogger for Felicity Fabrics.
Choosing a fabric from Felicity Fabrics website was so very hard. They have so many choices of fabric. And the colours….oh my.

I love making jackets and one of my favourite pattern designers is Merchant & Mills. The Ottoline jacket was a pattern I had not sewn before and I really wanted to practise my top stitching. With that in mind I started looking at denim. Felicity Fabrics stock a lovely stretch denim which is 65% cotton 33% polyester and 2% elastane. It is 145 cm wide and 2 metres was more than enough for my project. The denim comes in two colours, a gorgeous coco and a rich wine. The choice of colour was easy for me because most of my makes are either pink or red.

The fabric arrived and I was not disappointed. The quality, the handling and sewing and dare I say the pattern were a perfect match.
On with my make …I made my usual size 16 and the fit is perfect. The top stitching proved to be harder than I thought but as they say practice makes perfect. Merchant & Mills patterns are superb and have loads of great instructions. I must admit I had a few moments scratching my head but my solution is to walk away and go back later. It usually works.

I finished off my jacket with some lovely bamboo buttons. I am really pleased with my jacket. It will see me through the colder months on top of jumpers and dresses. Go check out the fabric. It would be perfect for loads of projects such as dungarees, skirts, dresses and ofcourse jackets.

Thank you for reading my blog and happy sewing.
